They were given methadone to help with heroin, but they didn’t get medication for the cocaine addiction. They were divided into three groups. One received acupuncture treatments in parts of the ear that are believed to be related to addiction. Another group got acupuncture in other parts of the ear that are believed to be ineffective, and the third was shown relaxing videos. The first group had significantly better outcomes in addiction recovery.
