Tackling the Issues of Drug Abuse and Alcohol Abuse in Utah

The state of Utah believes mostly in prevention as the best method for controlling its drug and alcohol abuse problem. Though there are several facilities for those who are seeking treatment, the state has a very strong prevention campaign in place for protecting itself from the vices of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. Even the laws of the state are very much in accord with this policy of prevention. One such example is the compulsion the government puts upon people caught for DUI to enroll into addiction treatment programs. These kinds of addiction treatment program in Utah are mainly classroom based educational programs that train people on what addiction actually is and how they can stay away from it.

Apart from that, there are several other methods in which Utah is trying to prevent its drug and alcohol abuse problems. Almost each school and college in Utah now has a substance abuse cell of its own or at least has access to substance abuse cells elsewhere. The main intention of these substance abuse cells is to identify these problems in people and take efforts right from the start to provide them proper intervention and hence treatment. A fair share of the intervention program in Utah gets its clientele from the juveniles in the schools and colleges of the state.

There are several centers for drug and alcohol rehab in Utah especially in the cities of Provo and Salt Lake City. In these centers, abuse treatment is provided through medical programs of detox and also through nonmedical counseling therapies that may even go on for a year after the addiction treatment.
