This is a question that no parent will want to be answered in the affirmative. But with the growing preponderance of the alcohol addiction in the world, it is not long before almost every parent of the world will be faced with such a question.

So, how does one answer this question in the very sorry situation that it needs to be asked? The first thing to remember is that even if your child has tasted alcohol, it does not mean that the child has become an alcoholic. Alcohol acts differently with different people. Some of them develop a lasting habit just with one peg, while for others even several years of occasional alcohol drinking later an substance abuse addiction won’t be developed. So, you need not get the alarm bells ringing as soon as you find out that your child has had alcohol. What you must do instead is to find out whether this is becoming a habit.

There are many ways to find this out. If your child is developing sudden mood swings, if his or her eyes are too red, or simply if his clothes are stinking of alcohol, you can assume that it is become a habit.

Even so, you will not need to take him or her to the alcohol rehabilitation center right away. Ask a counselor on what kind of treatments are available. Mostly, simple counseling will help the child. Children do not build up a lot of alcohol in their bodies because they haven’t been drinking for long. That is the reason why mere counseling could be an option, supplemented with an outpatient treatment method.
